Remember when you were a kid and counted down the days until summer vacation. The morning announcement at our house today was that there are 11 & 1/2 days left until summer break. When I asked my kids what they think of when they hear the summer break they responded with: "no homework, swimming, playing, sprinklers, watermelon, popsicles, no homework, more time with friends, and no homework." I can see why they get so excited - that sounds like a blast to me too!

I often say to my daughter Kaitlin “Let Your Sun Shine Out”, let the world see how beautiful you are on the inside. Here, with “Let the Sunshine In”, I’m referring to the importance of getting enough vitamin D, the fat soluble “sunshine vitamin”, through sun exposure and supplementation.

Another school year has gone by, and it's hard to believe that this was the last week of school for my daughter. Summer is upon us, along with warm, sunny days and the possibility of sunburn. With fair skin and freckles, my daughter and I have to be vigilant about preventing sunburn.
