Looking to make a positive change in your child's digestive health?  Here's your holistic prescription:

One:  Add more fermented foods to your child's diet everyday. Try both dairy based and vegetable based probiotic foods. Examples of fermented vegetables include sauerkraut and pickles. Fermented dairy options include whey, sour cream, yogurt and keifer. If dairy allergic or sensitive, try coconut keifer. A great fermented beverage is Kombucha. You can buy these fermented foods already prepared, or make your own by purchasing starter cultures online at Cultures for Health. Jenny from Nourished Kitchen will share with you her techniques and recipes for how to make this traditional process of fermenting easy and fun.

Two:  Make sure your child is taking a high quality probiotic daily.  You are missing a huge opportunity to increase and protect your child's health if you are not giving them a daily probiotic.  These good bugs are proven to improve digestive health as well as overall health.  See Probiotics The Healthy Bugs.

Three: Reduce sucrose (table sugar) and processed grains in your child's diet. Our children are flooded with these everyday - at home, school, sports, church and play dates. When not properly broken down, sugar and processed grains (as well as whole grains) become food for pathogenic bacteria, viruses, yeast and parasites.
