REAL Research: Probiotic Strain Boosts Immune Response to Flu Virus Print E-mail

Probiotic Strain Boosts Immune Response to Flu Virus. In a study published in the journal Postgraduate Medicine, researchers found that a specific strain of probiotics increased the body's immune response to the flu virus, specifically to influenza A. Swine flu, also known as H1N1, is a variant of influenza A.

"It shows that taking probiotics regularly can boost the immune system in a specific way which helps the body give influenza A the boot. The probiotics strain, which has the scientific tongue-twister name of Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, PTA-6086, was found to cause significant increases in T-cell production of TNF-alpha, a key immune system activity marker, when health adults were exposed to influenza."

Yet another study, demonstrating that probiotics boost the immune function to defend against infection and disease. Probiotics are such an easy, inexpensive way to boost your child's immune system, without any associated risks. I've been recommending probiotics for years and have yet to see an adverse reaction, even with infants.

We look forward to the day when probiotics will be recommended by your primary care practitioner for cold and flu protection. Keep probiotics in your tool box, and during the cold and flu season.
